Salute Our Military

Watch the WZDX News at 9:00 starting on June 6th to meet our Salute to the Military winners.

How were winners chosen?

WZDX, along with our partners Still Serving Veterans, North Alabama Honda, Halls RV, AAMCO Transmissions and Brockwell Technologies honor the sacrifice of military families across the Valley.

The courage, commitment and sacrifice shown by all who serve is beyond measure.

Local military personnel (active duty or honorably discharged veterans) whose commitment to country and community is deserving of special recognition were nominated by family or friends.

The focus of this project was on those who continue to serve their community as well. Community service may be in the form of volunteerism with a local nonprofit organization or church, or it may be simple acts of kindness for others in the community.

To be considered for this award, a nominee must have been an active duty member of the military serving in any branch of the U.S. Armed Forces or an honorably discharged veteran.

Entries were judged on the following criteria:  Service to the country while in uniform, service to the community and financial need.

Each winner will receive a check for $1,500 from Still Serving Veterans and our sponsors.

What the funds can be used for:  Family needs, family vacation, tuition assistance, household improvements.

What the funds can not be used for: Utility bills, rent/mortgage, car payments, groceries, cell phone bills.
