Salute to the Military: Shalae Morgan Honored For Service

Shalae Morgan is honored as we "Salute to the Military."

For Shalae Morgan, joining the military is a family tradition..

“Both my parents served,” shares Shalae. “So to me, to watch my parents just sacrifice, and the opportunities that the military provided them , I knew that I wanted to be a part of that.”

Shalae has served for over ten years and is a Paralegal with the 135th Sustainment. She just got back from a deployment in Kuwait, where she ran the Contract and Fiscal Law Shop.

“You actually see the amount of money that is being spent out and what it costs, but really can you put a cost on a soldiers life that is away from his family?” says Shalae. “So you want to try to do everything, and try to select the right contractor, to provide the services that we need.”

Shalae has given so much of her life to our country and her fellow military members, so we wanted to give something back to her.

WZDX and “Still Serving Veterans” helped present a check for $1,125 sponsored by Alexander Shunarrah Personal Injury Law to Shalae Morgan for her service.

But nothing we give Shalae will be enough, she not only serves the United States, but she also volunteers around the valley at places like Life South and Alabama A&M, which is why her husband wanted her to be recognized for all she does.

“You know, she’s joined the military, I have gotten the chance to serve with her,” shares her husband, Myles Morgan. “She has done nothing but serve the community, serve the country.”

But serving others is something that is natural for Shalae, it is in her blood, and something she will continue to do.

“When we give back to our community, it just provides hope. And when people know there is hope in the community, they know that they can thrive and that there is a future there,” explains Shalae. “I have to give back, once a soldier, always a soldier.”

Shalae says she will be using the money to pay off student loans and to take her husband Myles to a steak dinner.
