ATHENS, Alabama — The public will have an opportunity to connect with Athens Police Chief Floyd Johnson with the second "Chatting with the Chief" session on Thursday, February 11.

From 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., members of the public will be able to call 256-233-6806 to speak with Chief Johnson. The Athens Police Department said they are not forwarding the line, so if you don't make it through on your first call, wait a few minutes and call back.

Callers will be able to share information, ask questions or just drop in to say hello. In the first session, a group of students were able to call in to ask questions about his experiences.

The department said these sessions were started as a way to stay connected with the community after COVID-19 impacted the ability to meet with groups and decreased the number of public events.
