Huntsville police confirm 11 arrests made during weekend traffic safety checkpoints

HPD had traffic safety checkpoints from April 12-14.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Huntsville Police Department has confirmed that the DUI checkpoints over the past weekend resulted in 11 arrests with 10 of them being DUI related. 

According to the Huntsville police, the checkpoint was successful in keeping the roadway safe for drivers. HPD confirms that the number of DUI arrests is unusually high for a checkpoint, and it is unclear what caused the increase in arrests.

Any time you think you see an impaired driver, HPD asks you to call their non-emergency line at 256-722-7100. When you call, please provide the location, vehicle and driver description, and the vehicle’s direction of travel. If there is immediate danger to the public, call 911.
