Former Huntsville nurse sentenced to life in prison for husband’s poisoning death

A former Huntsville nurse, Marjorie Cappello, was sentenced to life in prison for murder in the death of her private investigator husband.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — A former Huntsville nurse was handed her fate Thursday. Marjorie Cappello, 37, was sentenced to life in prison after she was convicted for her husband's murder in 2018.

Marjorie Cappello was convicted on May 19 for poisoning her husband, James Cappello, who was a private investigator.

Authorities said he was discovered in his home, and believe he was killed with insulin.

It started as a missing person's case. Authorities said Marjorie had called a friend, admitting to killing her husband and asked for help getting rid of the body.

The friend reported it to the police.

The home of Cappello, located at 8013 Lauderdale Road, is also home where the body was found.

Police say they went to Cappello’s home to talk to family members after Capello was initially reported missing. They returned to the home after receiving more information, and when they arrived, the wife of Cappello reportedly refused to let them search the home.
