Dariauna Lewis transfers to Syracuse

Alabama A&M women's basketball standout Dariauna Lewis has announced on social media her commitment to play for the Orange.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Dariauna Lewis has announced her commitment to continue her education and further her basketball career at Syracuse University. This news comes one week after the All-SWAC selection declared her intention to enter the NCAA transfer portal.

Lewis was a double-double machine for the Alabama A&M Lady Bulldogs the past three seasons.

Last season, Lewis played in all 29 games, starting 28 and posting averages of 15.2 points, 11.3 rebounds, 2.2 blocks, 1.1 assists and nearly a steal per game. She also shot .500 from the field (167-of-334) and .724 (105-of-145) at the foul line.

This year, she earn a second straight College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America honor – this time Second-Team – to go with Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Second-Team recognition and four weekly awards. She would split the latter between Player of the Week and Impact Player of the Week.

Following the season, the Nebraska native would earn her third straight BOXtoROW HBCU All-American nod. 

Lewis's best game during the 2021-22 season came in her contest as a Lady Bulldog. In the SWAC Quarterfinals against Grambling on March 9th, she finished with a season-high 32 points and 10 rebounds to go with two blocks, a two of steals and an assist.


Additionally, she ranks ninth in defensive rebounds per game (8.1), 13th in double-doubles, 14th in rebounds per game, 16th in total rebounds (329) and 28th in blocks per game. In terms of SWAC statistical rankings she leads the league in rebounds and rebounds per game, is second in blocks and third in field goal percentage.

Lewis will have one more season of eligibility remaining.
