DECATUR, Ala. — The Better Business Bureau of North Alabama, in collaboration with AARP Alabama, is set to host the Decatur Shred Day on Saturday, May 4, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The event will take place at BComing Church located at 607 14th St. SE. This shred day is for people to help protect their identities and contribute to environmental protection through a free drive-thru setup.

Residents can take advantage of several free services at the upcoming event:

  • Document Shredding: Bring up to three kitchen-sized bags or three file storage boxes per vehicle for shredding of personal or financial documents. Remember to remove any plastic, metal, or binders. Shredding stops when trucks are full.
  • Electronic Recycling: Items under 40 lbs are accepted, but there's a $10 fee for plasma and flat screen TVs. Large-back TVs, CRT monitors, and appliances won't be taken.
  • Drug Take Back: The Morgan County Sheriff's Office will collect prescription and over-the-counter medications, but not needles.
  • Food Drive: Donate non-perishable food items to support the BComing Church Community Care Ministry.
