FLORENCE, Ala. — There are now a total of seven lawsuits filed against Jenise and Daniel Spurgeon by children they are accused of abusing.
The former Florence residents were charged with multiple counts of child abuse, sexual abuse, and more.
Daniel pled guilty and was sentenced to 25 years. Jenise is awaiting trial.
All of the alleged victims were their foster children or adopted children.
Commissioner Nancy Buckner and some DHR case workers are also defendants.
The lawsuits claim DHR received complaints of abuse but didn't act.
