1. Child solicitation arrests

Three men were arrested as part of a child trafficking sting operation in Morgan County. They were each charged with electronic solicitation of a minor and traveling to meet a child for an unlawful sex act.

2. Panoply went off without a hitch (or a drop of rain!)

The Huntsville arts and music festival has a checkered past when it comes to the weather cooperating, but this year all three days had glorious conditions! If you've got a few extra minutes to spare you can see this web extra video of the 2024 Panoply experience.

3. Mayor's absence from Decatur State of the City

Mayor Tab Bowling, who has left many recent city council meetings before public comment period due to continued criticism surrounding the Steve Perkins shooting, was absent from the State of the City address, where council members updated the public on a wide range of topics affecting them.

4. Standoff ends with capital murder suspect in custody

Two men, ages 74 and 49, were shot dead this week, with the suspect, Maurice D'Antonio Chatman, holding officers at bay for about 11 hours before being arrested.

5. Alabama students join nationwide protests

While demonstrations against the Israel-Hamas war at other campuses have led to police intervention and violence, UA's protest was mild in comparison - however no less passionate.
