HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Starting May 4, Redstone Arsenal will make temporary changes to its gate operations. Gate 10 on Patton Road will close, while Gate 8 at the Patton-Drake intersection will be open from 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. every day.
According to U.S. Army Garrison-Redstone Commander Col. Brian Cozine, the change is necessary as the installation works to achieve the minimum required guard strength to operate Redstone’s numerous access points.
"Commuter traffic is nearing pre-COVID levels," said Cozine, while also noting challenges in hiring guard force personnel at Redstone Arsenal.
“We realize the impact arsenal traffic has on our community and appreciate everyone’s patience as we make adjustments to increase and protect our guard force while ensuring everyone’s safe commute,” said Cozine.
The closure of Gate 10 on Patton Road is temporary and will be reassessed as the staffing situation improves. Those interested in joining the guard force can apply here.
