HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — The suspect investigators say shot and killed a man in North Alabama in late August remains jailed in Indiana after being reportedly found driving the victim's vehicle.

Officials in Carmel, Indiana said Damon Andrew Blinks, a resident of Greencastle, Ind., was found in the area on August 31, driving what was determined to be a stolen vehicle. Officers attempted to make a traffic stop, but Blinks reportedly led officials on a chase before trying to run away on foot, only to be captured a short time later.

He was taken to the Hamilton County Jail on local charges including theft of stolen property, unlawful possession of a firearm, and resisting arrest.

As of Thursday, he remains in Indiana for extradition back to Madison County, Alabama, where he is expected to be charged with capital murder.

Huntsville Police's Major Crimes Unit says investigators found the body of 23-year-old Devin Tyler McDonald around 7 a.m. the morning of Aug. 29 in the 300 block of Quality Circle, just south of Old Madison Pike, near Cabela's.

Investigators believe McDonald was shot during a robbery attempt reported around 10:30 p.m. the previous night. McDonald's vehicle was believed to have been taken by Blinks after the shooting.

It was one of two separate shootings that took place within a 24-hour period in the City of Huntsville which left a total of three people dead; U.S. Marshals captured Tye'Deshun Stevens on Sept. 6; he is believed responsible for the shooting deaths of two people on Bonnell Dr. the morning of Aug. 29.
