Mobile Pantry provides fresh food at Athens Middle School

Free groceries will be given out at Athens Middle School Saturday, April 13, from 9 a.m. until supplies run out.

ATHENS, Ala. — A mobile pantry will provide fresh produce, dry goods, bakery items, and more this Saturday, April 13. One Generation Away will be stationed at Athens Middle School from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. or until supplies run out.

OneGenAway is known for serving North Alabama, Middle Tennessee, and the Florida panhandle to combat food insecurity.

“We are so thankful that Athens High is allowing us to use their campus to care for our community in this way,” said Chris Whitney, Founder of OneGenAway. “No one should have to struggle to get the food they need for an active lifestyle, but unfortunately, one in five Alabama residents experience food insecurity. We are grateful to be able to stand in the gap for families facing this need.”

Volunteers are welcome to assist with sorting and distributing food, and are encouraged to arrive at the site by 7:30 a.m. No prior registration is required to volunteer.
