HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Mere hours after the announcement that Wahlburgers would close up shop on April 13, a new tenant was revealed for the MidCity foodie spot. HX Brands announced on Friday that an 'Asian street food bar and restaurant experience' called Dragon Alley will fill the space in the coming months.

HX also owns MidCity fixtures Kamado Ramen and Kung Fu Tea, and operates I (Heart) Sushi, Chop N Fresh, and Oh Crepe elsewhere in Huntsville.

“As avid foodies, we felt compelled to introduce Huntsville to culinary concepts typically reserved for larger cities," said HX co-founder Yunus Hasan. "Dragon Alley promises to bring vibrant flavors and energy straight to our district’s dining experience.”

Chao Fang has been named as head of Dragon Alley's culinary team. While the menu has not been officially announced, Hasan and co-owner Jim Xue pledge "to transport customers to 1990s Hong Kong with its colorful ambiance, characterized by neon lights, colorful artwork, artisanal wooden tables and unique accent pieces."

There will also be space for live music as well as outdoor dining.

MidCity developer Max Grelier said Huntsville must elevate its food scene in order to compete with larger cities. "We are actively engaged in discussions with talented chefs from surrounding markets, aiming for Huntsville to be known as a city that over-indexes on culinary experiences for its size," Grelier said.

An opening date for Dragon Alley has not been announced. Chapman Sisson Architects has been retained to redesign the restaurant space once Wahlburgers serves up its last dish.
