Free Community Health and Wellness Events

Central North Alabama Health Services and their community partners are hosting a week of community health and wellness events.

Community Fun & Wellness Festival

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Central North Alabama Health Services, Inc, Thrive Alabama, and HAPPI Health are partnering to offer free health and community services from August 6-12 to serve North Alabama residents in need.

On Monday, August 7, Central North Alabama Health Services, Inc. will offer free health screenings and appointments through their Wellness on Wheels Mobile Unit at the Salvation Army Monday, August 7 from 11 AM to 2 PM. Attendees will also be given care kits comprising hygiene and personal items, as well as food bags sourced from the Food Bank of North Alabama. The Recovery Center and Wellstone will also be on site providing information about mental health and substance recovery assistance. Chick-Fil-A will provide free lunch. For those seeking information about community health services, assistance will be available. The event is open to the public and the CNAHSI encourages anyone experiencing homelessness to attend. 

On Saturday, August 12, the 3rd annual Community Fun & Wellness Festival happens from 10 AM to 1 PM at the Dr. Richard Shower's Recreation Center located at 4600 Blue Spring Road. The family-friendly event hosts a variety of activities, including free snow cones for the first 200 attendees, free food (while it lasts), school supply giveaways, prizes, live music by 103.1 WEUP's LaShay B, performance by the Huntsville Drumline, bounce houses, a petting zoo, face painting, a splash pad, and an agenda with interactive activities like baseball, yoga, and cheerleading. Event goers can also access wellness services, including sports physicals, glucose screenings, blood pressure checks, COVID-19 vaccines (for adults), HIV testing, and informational resources about health and community services. Community health workers will also be available to guide attendees on accessing services at local community health centers. CNAHSI, Thrive Alabama, and HAPPI Health are sponsoring the event.
