Lt. Gov. Will Ainsworth announced on Monday two programs he says will open doors for qualified high school and college students and small businesses interested in working in Alabama's aerospace industry.
According to the Lt. Governor's Office, the programs are offered in partnership with the Alabama Chapter of the Aerospace States Association, a group of elected officials, academics and private sector entities with ties to aviation and aerospace industries.
“For more than a half-century, Alabama has been a national leader in aerospace development and technology, and if we are going to maintain that role, we must develop a new generation of students, individuals, and businesses with the qualifications to work within the industry,” Ainsworth said. “At the same time that we provide opportunities for students and small businesses that need them, we will grow Alabama’s economy and create long-lasting, well paying jobs in an area that is expanding exponentially.”
Those interested in the two-week internship program will learn about various companies, programs and opportunities in Alabama's aerospace industry. The two-week program is unpaid and designed to provide students with opportunities to learn about various jobs in the industry.
