Alabama State Representative District 27 Special Election runoff results

Six candidates were on the ballot in the April 2 special election and now two will face off in a runoff election.

MARSHALL COUNTY, Ala. — UPDATE (4/30): And then there were two! Candidates for the Alabama State District Representative District 27 Special Election now head to a runoff. Jeana Ross and Alan Miller will face off tonight and we will have the updates for you!

As of April 30, 2024 at 8:27pm Jeana Ross leads the race with 53% of the vote and Alan Miller is behind with 47% of the vote.

Jeana Ross is the projected winner of the Alabama State District Representative District 27 seat.

Six candidates threw their hats in the ring for the Alabama State District Representative District 27 Special Election on April 2, 2024. House District 27 includes Arab, Guntersville, Union Grove and Grant.

The seat opened up when the former representative, Wes Kitchens, won the Alabama Senate District 9 seat on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, That Senate seat opened up when former Senate Majority Leader Clay Scofield vacated the seat in October to become the executive director of the West Alabama Chamber of Commerce.

The candidates running for the House District 27 seat were all Republicans:
Stacy Lee George
Bill Hancock
Alan Miller
Jeana Ross
Bill Strickland
Billy Ray Todd.

As of April 2, 2024 at 9:30pm, Jeana Ross had 39% of the vote with Alan Miller in second place with 21% of the vote with 100% of boxes reported. The voter turnout was 9.25%

A runoff will be held on April 30.
