What to know:

The deadline to register for the primaries has passed; it is no longer possible to get a name added to the voter roll for the March 5 vote. You may still register for the November general election; click here for instructions.

What is on the primary ballot?

On the statewide level, there is a proposed amendment to the Alabama State constitution. "Section 71.01 [would authorize] the Legislature to sign and transmit local laws or constitutional amendments before the transmission of basic appropriations."

Republicans will have the opportunity to select a favored candidate for President of the United States. The candidates listed on the Madison County sample ballot are Ryan L. Binkley, Chris Christie, Ron DeSantis, Nikki Haley, Vivek Ramaswamy, David Stuckenberg, Donald. J. Trump, and 'Uncommitted.' Though several of these candidates have withdrawn their candidacy, their names may still appear on your printed ballot.

Democrats will also be able to choose their preferred candidate for President - incumbent Joe Biden, Dean Phillips, or 'Uncommitted.' Democratic voters will also be asked to select their delegates to the 2024 Democratic National Convention.

Individual counties may have locally-specific races. Check your county's sample ballot for complete race information.

Absentee Voting

The deadline for submitting mail-in absentee ballot applications for the upcoming election is Tuesday, February 27, 2024. If opting to return the application in person, voters must do so by Thursday, February 29, 2024.
