Sewage line break disrupts operations at Redstone Arsenal

A day of disruptions followed the sewer line rupture, which was repaired later in the day Friday.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — UPDATE (5 p.m.): Officials with NASA confirmed that the sewer issue at Redstone Arsenal was successfully repaired Friday afternoon. Marshall Space Flight Center will resume normal operations on Saturday.

UPDATE at 9:20 a.m.:  According to the Team Redstone Facebook page, a main sewer line burst on February 15 and is under repair.  Command Leadership has requested that all organizations, and agencies on the installation implement maximum use of telework or liberal leave. Any usage of water or sewer lines on the installation will further exacerbate the situation and could further delay the repairs. 

Multiple closings are happening because of the main sewer line break. See them below:

  • One Stop – Closing at 10 a.m.
  • Marshall Space Flight Center - Closed
  • Fox Army Health Center – Closing at 12 p.m.
  • Java Café – Closed
  • Goss Road Child Development Center – Normal operating hours
  • School Age Services – Normal operating hours
  • All other FMWR Facilities/Services will remain on normal operating hours
  • AAFES – Normal operating hours
  • Commissary – Normal operating hours

UPDATE 2/16 : Marshall Space Flight Center will now closed Friday Feb. 16 due to a sewer line break on Redstone Arsenal.

According to the Team Redstone Facebook page, a sewage line break has occurred at Martin and Mills Roads. As a result, several establishments will be closed on Friday, February 16, including the Mills Road Child Development Center, the Redstone Federal Credit Union on Mills Road, and the AAFES Express gas station, along with dining facilities at the Martin/Mills intersection.

Team Redstone has encouraged telework due to the sewage line break. The Goss Road CDC remains unaffected and is scheduled to reopen on Friday. However, the Mills Road CDC will remain closed. There are impacts on the housing area.
