School closings and delays, Feb. 17

Some schools in the Tennessee Valley are closing due to the risk of severe weather, including Madison County Schools.

Some schools and childcare facilities in the Tennessee Valley are closing due the risk of winter weather. Click here for business and clinic closings and delays.

School closings and delays:

Arab City Schools: Will delay 2 hours on Wednesday, February 17th.

Athens City Schools: Closed on Wednesday, February 17, 2021

Athens State University: Campus will close at 4 p.m.

Big Cove Christian Academy: Closed on February 17

Calhoun Community College: All evening classes have been canceled on February 17.

Colbert County Schools: Closed Wednesday, February 17 due to the winter weather. This includes any extracurricular activities.

Cullman County Schools:

  • Cullman County Students are already on a virtual plan each Wednesday as a result of our current COVID protocols, so students will work from home tomorrow.
  • Our lunchrooms will NOT be handing out Wednesday take-home meals.
  • Teachers are to work from home tomorrow.
  • 12-month employees to report at 10am.

Decatur City Schools: will remain on virtual instruction for Wednesday, Feb. 17

Florence City Schools: FCS will have an eLearning day on Wednesday, February 17, 2021. There will be no in-person school on Tuesday, February 16, or Wednesday, February 17, 2021.

Guntersville City Schools: Guntersville City Schools will be in session tomorrow Wednesday, February 17th as an eLearning day for students and staff.

Huntsville City Schools: Huntsville City Schools (HCS) students will engage in remote learning on Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2021

Jackson County Schools: 2 hour delay tomorrow, Wednesday, Feb 17th, 2021. If the bus normally comes by your house at 6:30 it will come by at 8:30 tomorrow. Car riders may arrive at the school after 9:15 a.m. and before 9:45 a.m.

Kilby Laboratory School: E-learning day on Wednesday, Feb. 17.

Lauderdale County Schools: Wednesday, February 17, 2021, will be a snow day for all Lauderdale County schools.  

Lawrence County Schools: Closed tomorrow, Wednesday, February 17, 2021

Limestone County Schools: Closed tomorrow, Wednesday, February 17, 2021

Madison City Schools: Virtual schedule for Wednesday, February 17, all levels: elementary, middle and high school.

Madison County Schools: Closed for all classes and activities Wednesday, February 17, 2021.

Russellville City Schools: Closed Wed., Feb. 17

Scottsboro City Schools: One hour delay Wed. Feb 17

St. John Paul II Catholic High School will operate on school-wide remote Wednesday, February 17, 2021; A-Day virtual classes.

Tuscumbia City Schools: All Tuscumbia City Schools and offices will be closed on Wednesday, February 17th.

Alabama A&M University will continue operations via "telework" for nonessential personnel on Wednesday, February 17, 2021.  In-person classes will meet remotely.  

Athens State University campus will be delayed two hours on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 due to potential hazardous road conditions. The campus will open at 10:00 AM.

Calhoun Community College: opening delayed until 10:00 am due to wintry weather conditions

Heritage Christian University (Florence, AL): will be closed Wednesday, February 17. No classes and offices will be closed. 

Northwest Shoals Community College: Both campuses are closed for campus-based operations tomorrow, Wednesday, February 17th 

Snead State Community College: Snead State Community College announces that all classes will remain virtual for Wednesday, Feb. 17. Campus offices will delay opening for normal business operations only until 10 a.m. on Wednesday. 

University of North Alabama: University of North Alabama will be closed Wednesday, Feb. 17, for campus-based operations. It is recommended that courses and University meetings be transitioned to the virtual model when possible.
