Free groceries to be given out in Madison

On Saturday, Feb. 17, the OneGenAway will provide a free mobile pantry at Discovery Middle School.

MADISON, Ala. — A mobile pantry is coming to Madison to provide fresh groceries to those in need! The nonprofit One Generation Away will be bringing this free of charge on February 17. The pantry will be operating as a drive-thru in various parking lots across North Alabama, Middle Tennessee, and the Florida panhandle almost every Saturday. OneGenAway offers fresh produce, dry goods, and more to anyone who attends.

Chris Whitney, the founder and CEO of OneGenAway, emphasizes the importance of giving freely without qualifications.

“It’s important to us to give freely without qualifications so we can eliminate as many barriers to food access as possible,” said Chris Whitney.

On Saturday, Feb. 17, the nonprofit’s mobile pantry will be stationed in the Discovery Middle School parking lot at 1304 Hughes Road, distributing food from 9 to approximately 10:30 a.m. or until all the food has been distributed. Volunteers are welcome to arrive at 7:30 a.m. to assist with sorting and distributing the food. No registration is necessary to volunteer.
