New pediatrics unit coming to Huntsville Hospital following $500,000 donation

Hometown Lenders' $500,000 donation is one of the largest in Foundation's history.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — The transformation of the hospital’s fourth floor is made possible by a $500,000 donation from Hometown Lenders through Huntsville Hospital Foundation.

This is one of the largest outright one-time corporate contributions in the Foundation’s history.

More than 4,000 children are admitted to the Pediatrics unit at Huntsville Hospital for Women & Children each year. For many, the hospital is an overwhelming or even scary place. Thanks to one Huntsville-based company, those young patients will now experience a new space meant to make their stay comforting and fun.

The donation is in memory of Mary Lee Taylor, mother of Hometown Lenders' founder Billy Taylor.

"My mom passed away a number of years ago and she had lived a life of service, [she was] an example to all of us," Taylor explained. "So when Huntsville Hospital approached us about this opportunity and about the need, it just made sense. They told us we could name it after someone special in our family or a friend, and quickly all of us said well Billy your mom is the one."

Huntsville Hospital Foundation exists to provide lifesaving technology and meaningful programs that improve patient lives. The Foundation raises essential funding for not-for-profit Huntsville and Madison Hospitals through individual and corporate donations, providing more than $4 million in funding for hospital needs each year.
