Morgan County Sheriff's Office warns about jury duty scam

The warning comes after a potential victim came to the sheriff's office.

DECATUR, Ala. — The Morgan County Sheriff's Office is warning about a jury duty scam after it was reported by a local resident.

The person came to the sheriff's office to pay $1,000 after someone claiming to be a deputy called them and claimed there was a warrant for the person for missing jury duty.

The sheriff's office says that they will not call and ask you to pay money over the phone, and an actual warrant can not be cleared up by paying the Sheriff's Office.

Their advice? If someone calls you demanding money over the phone, hang up. There's a really good chance it's a scam!
