Mardi Gras in the Tennessee Valley

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Everyone, it's time to eat your king cakes and get those beads ready to throw because Mardi Gras is here! 

And since Alabama, yes not you Louisiana, is the home of Mardi Gras, you can be sure that the Tennessee Valley will be prepared to celebrate. 

Here is a list of the exciting, upcoming events that will be taking place in North Alabama in honor of the Mardi Gras celebration. 

ATHENS

Athens Alehouse and Cellar 

Where: 111 W. Washington Street in downtown Athens  

What: Live music from Brad Mallette and Andy Clem along with Happi Pappi beignets for patrons, no cover charge  

When: Thursday, February 24, 2022, from 6 p.m. to 9 pm 

Athens Alehouse and Cellar & The Broken Brush Studio 

Where: 111 West Washington Street in downtown Athens  

What: A beer stein painting party, tickets will be $40. Each ticket includes (1) 24 oz. beer stein, paint, instruction, and two pints of beer. Limited tickets are available and can be purchased online here.

When: Wednesday, March 2, 2022, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

HUNTSVILLE/MADISON

Downtown Mardi Gras Block Party 

Where: The party will take place along these closed roadways: Holmes Avenue closed between Spragin St. and Jefferson St. We will also have North Side Square closed between Washington St. and Jefferson St. 

What: Enjoy live music, food and drink specials from the local restaurants, free beads, and more! Learn more about the block party here

When: Saturday, February 26, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Rocket City Rovers Party Gras

Where: Various locations in downtown Huntsville

LUXE Mardi Gras Party Bus Crawl 

Where: Humphrey's Bar & Grill, 103 Washington St NE Huntsville, AL 35801

What: Mardi Gras party filled with specialty food and drinks.

Mad Malts Cajun Crawfish Broil

What: Mardi Gras party filled with crawfish and some cold brews.

When: Saturday, February 26, 2022, all day starting at 6:30 p.m.

Most Awesomely 80's Mardi Gras Blowout! 

Where: InnerSpace Brewing Company, 2414 Clinton Ave W Huntsville, AL 

What: An 80's themed Mardi Gras party.

When: Saturday, February 26, 2022, all day starting at 7:00 p.m.

Mardi Gras 6 Couse Dinner and Wine Pairing

Where: The Bottle, 101 Washington St. Huntsville, AL

What: A six-course food and wine pairing event featuring fine French wines and NOLA cocktails. 

When: Monday, February 28, 2022, and Tuesday, March 1, 2022.

Cajun Steamer's Mardi Gras Party 

Where: 301 Pelham Ave SW, Huntsville, AL

What: Mardi Gras party full of wine and Cajun cuisine.

When: Tuesday, March 1, 2022.  All-day event. 

Mardi Gras Fundraiser - Forge Breast Cancer Survivor Story 

WhereJack Brown's Beer and Burger Joint, 123 Northside Square Unit 100, Huntsville, AL 

WhatMardi Gras fundraiser full of burgers, beers, and bras. For each bra added to the wheel, $10 will be donated to the Forge Breast Cancer Survivor Center.

DECATUR

Carnegie Carnival Parade

Where: Bank Street to 2nd Avenue Second Avenue NE, Decatur, AL 35601

FLORENCE

Mardi Gras Masquerade Ball

Where: Joe Wheeler State Park, 4403 McLean Drive, Rogersville, AL 

What: Featuring New Orleans traditions, King cake, hurricanes, beads, music, dancing, and a great time!
