Huntsville Hospital updates restrictions on visitation

The new restrictions apply to the Main facility as well as Huntsville Hospital for Women & Children and Madison Hospital.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Huntsville Hospital has changed its visitation policies as COVID-19 hospitalizations surge.

The hospital says that effective immediately, only essential, designated caregivers will be allowed to support non-COVID patients who need assistance.. The new restrictions apply to the Main hospital as well as Huntsville Hospital for Women & Children and Madison Hospital.

Visitation to patients with COVID-19 will be prohibited, except in special circumstances such as end-of-life care. In these cases, compliance with personal protective equipment is required.

These rules may change at any time, so be sure to check for updates before going to the hospital to see a patient.

The hospitals have designated family call-in times for all patients between 9:30 -10:30  a.m.  and 9:30 -10:30  p.m. The number for call-ins is (256) 265-1000. Other updates will be provided as needed by the clinical team throughout the patient’s hospitalization.

Huntsville Hospital posts a daily update of COVID-19 stats for the hospital system. This shows the number of COVID patients and how they are being treated, along with testing numbers and positive cases.

Statewide stats, including those from K-12 public schools are also available.

COVID testing clinics are ongoing in north Alabama at medical facilities and community sites. 

Huntsville Hospital will be of the first hospitals in the state to receive COVID-19 vaccines, along with UAB. The first inoculations will be for frontline health care workers
