Fyffe celebrates annual UFO Festival

The city of Fyffe is actually recognized by the state as the UFO Capital of Alabama.

This small town gained national attention after a record number of UFO sightings were reported in 1989.

Forty years later, the city of Fyffe is celebrating another annual UFO Day Festival today. The town comes together every year on the last Saturday in August to celebrate.

The festival has live music, arts and crafts, a 5k run, car show and even hot air balloon rides this year.

We caught up with the mayor of Fyffe, Mayor Paul Cagle,  and he told us why this celebration is so big for the town. He says, “It was natural for us to take on the “UFO”, which is an “Unforgettable Family Outing… It’s a beautiful thing for the town of Fyffe to be able to do this. Most of our residents come out and enjoy this. But, we have people coming in from much farther out than just our town.”
