Fatal shootings in Scottsboro believed to be murder-suicide

A 33-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman who was eight months pregnant were found in a vehicle with fatal gunshot wounds.

SCOTTSBORO, Ala. — An early morning shooting in Scottsboro that left two people dead appears to be a murder-suicide, according to Scottsboro police.

Scottsboro Police Department received a call in reference to a suspicious vehicle stopped in the roadway at Maple St. and N. Houston St. According to investigators, officers who arrived on scene discovered that both occupants of the vehicle appeared to have suffered fatal gunshot wounds and were deceased. 

The female victim was eight months pregnant and transported to Highlands Medical Center in an attempted to rescue the unborn child. Through the actions of first responders and medical staff at Highlands, the child was born and then transported to Huntsville Hospital for further care.

The two in the vehicle have been identified as (victim) Amber Michelle Coffman, 35, of Hollywood, AL. and (suspect) Owen Deanglo Williamson, 33, of Hollywood, AL. 

Investigators do not have a motive at this time, and the investigation is ongoing.
