FLORENCE, Ala. — A vehicle belonging to the Florence Police Department was severely burned Saturday afternoon while offers were involved in a pursuit.

According to the department's Facebook post describing the incident, police were chasing the three occupants of a vehicle that had been reported stolen shortly before 3 p.m. They said the people inside the vehicle eventually bailed out and tried to run away on foot.

Meanwhile, a citizen flagged down one of the responding officers to notify them that their patrol vehicle had burst into flames.

A photo posted by the department shows the cruiser parked in front of a tree in a dry, grassy area just off the main street; the front end of the vehicle is completely engulfed, with more flames spreading on the ground.
