Dinosaurs visit U.S. Space and Rocket Center for International Asteroid Day

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — International Asteroid Day is coming up, and dinosaurs are heading to the U.S. Space and Rocket Center. Jurassic Quest personalities Dino Dustin, Park Ranger Marty, along with baby dinosaur Tyson the T-rex and walking Raptor Jojo the Utahraptor, will be take over Biergarten Thursday night hang out in the museum on Friday.

On Thursday. Biergarten has a specially themed menu, with Brontosaurus Brats, Stegosaurus Schnitzel, and Prehistoric Pretzels available for purchase. Biergarten hours are 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., and a portion of the proceeds benefit the United States Army Association, this week’s charity partner.

 For Asteroid Day on Friday, Tyson the T-rex and Raptor JoJo will roam the museum from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will also be hands-on dinosaur and asteroid activities for visitors, from designing a space suit for your favorite space-traveling dinosaur to exploring how comets and asteroids and plate tectonics have shaped our planet over time.

Friday’s Cocktails & Cosmos in the INTUITIVE® Planetarium also examines asteroids, and how these are remnants from the formation of our solar system. Doors open at 6:15 p.m., and the show starts at 7.
