Have you filled out your Census form?

Alabama ranks at #29 in the U.S.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — The state of Alabama is lagging behind with filling out the U.S. Census. According to the U.S. Census tracker, Alabama ranks 29th.

That means only about half of the state has responded. About 64 percent of households in Madison County have responded.

Alabama could risk losing congressional seats, and federal funding if you don't take the five minutes to fill it out.

"$675 Billion each year is determined based Census data. That includes medicare, transportation, education, food stamps, unemployment, insurance. Things like that are determined on Census Data and how much a city or a state gets is based on Census Data,"  says James Vandiver with the HSV Metropolitan Planning Organization.

You have until the end of July before Census surveyors visit households to fill them out.
