On Friday a Federal Judge told Madison Police Chief if what he did was an accident or a mistake then the court would not have made it’s findings.
Madison Police Chief Larry Muncey Finally learned his fate in court . The judge said without reasonable doubt Muncey is in contempt of court based on the prosecution’s findings.
The ruling comes just a few days after Madison Police Captain Terrell Cook was acquitted.
Both were charged with tampering with witnesses in the Eric Parker Trial. A trial where a Madison Police officer was accused of violating a man’s civil rights.
The Judge said Muncey injected himself by trying to manage the department’s liability.
Muncey had read blogs about the trial and sent a sergeant in his place, after he was excused from court as a witness.
She also mentioned an officer was fearful of retribution for his testimony.
During the hearing Muncey’s Lawyer said a fine would be appropriate based on the prosecution’s evidence.
The Police Chief was fined $2,500 and will have to pay out of pocket for training, if he ever faces a legal situation in his department.
