FOX54 Sports Director Mo Carter

Mo Carter is the Sports Director for FOX54 News.

Mo Carter is an award-winning sports journalist, born and raised along the bayous of Napoleonville, Louisiana.

Being actively involved in church at an early age, allowed Mo to become very comfortable when speaking to large crowds.

During his career, Mo has won several AP awards and covered some top-notch sporting events.

Some of those events include numerous SEC Championships, BCS Bowl games, the 2012 NCAA Final Four and Super Bowl XLVII.

Mo’s collegiate career began at Nicholls State where he played defensive back. He transferred and played that same position at Southern University, where he received a degree in Mass Communications. After graduating in 2009, he joined the WAFB sports team in Baton Rouge. Shortly afterward, he moved on to KALB in Alexandria, Louisiana where he started as a sports anchor and was later promoted to the role of sports director.

He then moved to Alabama in 2013, where he led the sports team at Alabama News Network. There he quickly learned how intense the Auburn-Alabama rivalry is.

Mo is excited to be here in the Tennessee Valley. When he’s not at work or attending sporting events, Mo enjoys spending time with his beautiful wife Lakeshia and their newborn son Morrell III, speaking to youth groups and working out. He also enjoys watching vintage episodes of Kenan & Kel, Power Rangers and Justice League.

He also is member of NABJ and the Southern University Alumni Federation – Huntsville Area Chapter. In 2018, Mo was selected as a inaugural cohort for Southern University's "40 Under Forty" club.

Mo & his family are members of St. Mark Baptist Church in Huntsville.

He is a huge fan of Louisiana sports teams – New Orleans Saints, Southern Jaguars and the New Orleans Pelicans.
