Thousands of students-athletes across the country are still trying to cope with the fact that their seasons were cut short due to COVID-19.

One of those being former Lee High basketball standout and current Missouri freshman Kobe Brown.

Just hours before Missouri freshman Kobe Brown was set to take the stage for his first sec tournament, the unthinkable happened.

"We got this message from our coach saying that the tournament has been canceled like completely and we were all just shocked!"

Just the second day into the SEC Basketball Tournament.. SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey decided it was best to cancel the remainder of it due to the coronavirus.

"We didn't think the tournament was gonna get cancelled completely. We just tried to comfort our only senior because that was the end of his season. It was crazy."

"I couldn't believe it. We worked all season to get there and those are really the games that count the most and for it to be canceled was just like crazy."

ALTHOUGH HIS SEASON --LIKE MANY OTHERS -- WAS CUT SHORT.. HE SAYS IT DOESN'T TAKE AWAY THE FACT THAT THIS YEAR HE REALLY GOT TO LIVE OUT HIS DREAM OF PLAYING DIVISION ONE BASKETBALL.

it was a dream come true seeing those big arenas on tv it doesn't do it justice. you have to be there to realize. we had shoot around earlier that day at Bridgestone Arena. that was one of the biggest venues we played in all season. it was just a dream come true playing at the next level.

ONE MOMENT KOBE WILL REMEMBER FROM HIS FRESHMAN YEAR  IS PLAYING AGAINST ALABAMA AT COLEMAN COLISEUM.

I knew a lot of people from home were at the game. i didn't want to think too much of it though but it was definitely fun getting to play against the hometown guys like kira and herb so i just came out and did what i did.

AS FOR NOW.. KOBE IS BACK HERE IN HUNTSVILLE... PERFECTING HIS CRAFT EVERY DAY.
