Dog attack in New Hope leaves two-year-old dead

NEW HOPE, Ala. — For the second time in a week, a local child is dead after a dog attack.

According to HEMSI spokesman Don Webster, multiple agencies including Madison County Sheriff's Office, Owens Cross Road Police Dept., New Hope Police Dept. responded to a call on T R Christian Road in New Hope just before 5:30 p.m. When they arrived, they found that a child had been attacked by a dog(s).

Madison County Coroner, Dr. Tyler Berryhill, later confirmed dogs had attacked a two-year-old boy in New Hope. The boy was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:21 p.m. Berryhill says the boy sustained fatal bite wounds in the incident and an autopsy for the victim will be performed, this week, in Huntsville.

There is no other information available at this time.

A four-year-old Morgan County child, Beau Clark, died on Monday, February 26.
