ALABAMA, USA — The legislature's decision to cut the Alabama Bureau of Pardons and Paroles' budget will mean higher caseloads for parole and probation officers.
The budget was cut by 43% this spring, from nearly 49 million dollars to just under 28 million.
It's estimated that 116 new officers need to be hired.
Currently, just 300 officers supervise more than 27 thousand offenders.
