Huntsville Utilities confirms animal behind power outage on Tuesday night

The power outage affected areas from the Tennessee state line south to Highway 20 and from Wall Triana Highway east to Highway 231/431.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Huntsville Utilities has confirmed that power has been restored to most customers following an outage. As of an 11 p.m. update, 5,600 customers are still without electricity. The affected areas range from the Tennessee state line south to Sparkman Road and from Jeff Road east to Memorial Parkway.

According to Huntsville Utilities, crews say that the outage was caused by an animal gaining access to a primary substation and making contact with electrical equipment, causing the main feeder breaker to open.

Utility crews are carrying out necessary repairs to the equipment and resetting the feeder breaker to repair outages.
