Free car wash event in Huntsville supports mental healthcare

Organized by Shine Time Super Wash & Express Polish, people can enjoy free car washes while contributing to WellStone's Be the Rock campaign.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Tennessee Valley drivers will have a chance to get a complimentary car wash while contributing to mental healthcare initiatives in the community. On Friday, April 12, Shine Time Super Wash & Express Polish will offer free car washes from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. at its location at 11060 Memorial Parkway SW, Huntsville, Al 35803. People will receive the Shine Time’s top-of-the-line ceramic wash, valued at $25.

The event aims to support those facing mental health and/or substance abuse crises. “Shine Time Super Wash & Express Polish is thrilled to be serving customers in South Huntsville and to support such a meaningful cause through our Grand Opening,” said Shine Time's Managing Partner, Michael Reiney. “Everyone struggles with mental health in one form or another, children, teens, and adults. It impacts all of us. We are working to raise awareness and eliminate stigma, while also recognizing and supporting the tremendous work that Wellstone does in our community!”

Funds raised will assist in providing quality care for both adults and children experiencing mental health and substance use crises.

WellStone, a nonprofit, is currently constructing the state’s inaugural 24/7 stand-alone pediatric crisis care center, WellStone Emergency Services (WES), for kids and teens. This pediatric facility will be adjacent to the original WES facility, which began serving adults in October 2022.

Shine Time, which debuted its first Alabama car wash on University Drive in 2019, now operates nine car washes across Alabama and Mississippi. The company plans to open its tenth location on County Line Road this summer.
