Decatur police looking to hire full-time officer

Applications for the position are open until May 28.

DECATUR, Ala. — The Decatur Police Department is looking to hire a full-time officer.

Applications for the position are open until May 28. Applicants will be required to complete the Physical Agility Test, which is tentatively scheduled for June 19 and June 26.

Applicants are required to have a high school diploma from an accredited high school or equivalent GED, have a proficiency in the English language, have a valid Alabama driver's license and meet current requirements that are set by the Alabama Peace Officer Standard and Training Commission.

Applications can be picked up at the city's Human Resource Department, located at the Decatur City hall on the Second Floor Tower.

Completed applications and a current resume should be returned to the city of Decatur's Human Resources Department by May 28. Applications and resumes can be delivered in-person; by mail to P.O. Box 1984, Decatur, AL 35602; by email to employment@decatur-al.gov; or by fax to 256-341-4895.

The Decatur Police Department said it will not be able to provide a status of considerations due to the volume of responses received.
