There are hundreds of people in Huntsville who don’t have a warm place to stay when the temperature drops and often have to rely on others for help.

Bearded Warriors, Community of Hope, Tent City Project, and Heat Up Huntsville are all working together this week to make staying warm a bit easier for people in Huntsville. Grateful Life Community Church also opened up their emergency warming center to people and their pets today and will remain open as long as the temperature is below freezing.

Many times people in the homeless community would prefer not to stay at a shelter or warming center.

“A lot of our friends don’t go to shelters, and there’s a variety of reasons why. PTSD could potentially be a reason why, theft within in the camps. A lot of the time, if a friend leaves their belongings overnight, then other people come in and take from them and that’s a huge concern for them because they lose everything,” said Mandy Probus with Huntsville Community of Hope.

You can help by donating warming supplies like propane, jackets, blankets, hot hands, and monetary donations.
