People near and far are coming together to help the family of Joe Miles, who were devastated by the loss of six family members in the tragic Scottsboro dock fire.

A GoFundMe account was established by family friend Kayla Wormsley. She lost her boat, which was docked next to Joe Miles’s. One the GoFundMe page, Wormsley tells of the loss of Miles’s wife Grace Annette Watson Miles (40), and her 5 kids: Christopher Zane Long (19), Bryli Anniston Long (16), Traydon Dominic Miles (10), Kesston Damian Miles (9), & Dezli Nicole Miles (7).

The other two victims have been identified as Amanda Foster (38) and Nancy Farrell Roper (54).

Wormsley is the sister-in-law of Joe Miles. According to the GoFundMe account, Miles was rescued from the water with burns. Not only did he lose his family, but he also lost his home.

Wormsley told WZDX News, “What we lost was replaceable. I’m not even concerned with our boat. I just wish we could have them back.”

Wormsley also shared pictures of the Miles family.

Jackson County EMA Director, Paul Smith, says this tragic event will be one that’s never forgotten.

“A lot of our firefighters and first responders who were here early Monday morning, this is going to be one of those things that they carry with them the rest of their lives.” said Smith. “When children are involved, that magnifies what you feel.”

They have exceeded their $20,000 goal on GoFundMe, but you can still donate by clicking here.
