All Alabama beaches remain closed until further notice

The Governor's Office said it was working closely with the mayors of Gulf Shores and Orange beach and Commissioner Billy Joe Underwood.

MONTGOMERY, Ala — The Office of the Governor announced on Thursday that at that time, all Alabama beaches are to remain closed until further notice.

The Governor's Office said it was working closely with the mayors of Gulf Shores and Orange beach and Commissioner Billy Joe Underwood. Gov. Ivey agreed to keep Baldwin County's beaches closed until at least Friday, Oct. 2 to allow communities additional time to prepare their beaches for safe public enjoyment.

Additionally, Gov. Kay Ivey has been in contact with Mayor Jeff Collier of Dauphin Island and said that she is prepared to amend the beach closure order for Mobile County once he signals that the island is ready to reopen its beaches.
