Showers and Storms For Saturday

Weather

I hope everyone has had an amazing Thanksgiving, and I hope you were able to catch the best deals last night and early this morning.

A very large storm system looks to move into the Tennessee Valley Saturday afternoon and evening. This comes in the form of an area of low pressure and an associated cold front. This is the same area of low pressure that will likely dump plenty of snow across the Great Plains and Upper Midwest.

The first half of Saturday looks dry. After the lunch hour, we could see some rain across parts of NW Alabama with everyone else (east of I-65) talking about more in the way of scattered precip.

The best chance for some more organized thunderstorm development comes after 5:00 or 6:00 Saturday evening. This is when the cold front will be knocking on our door.

The good news is that the threat of severe weather across the Tennessee Valley is minimal. We could still see some gusty winds, but that looks to be the biggest threat.

There is a marginal risk for severe weather Saturday afternoon and evening across parts of Mississippi, Arkansas, and Louisiana. There they have had a better chance to destabilize. Across the Tennessee Valley we have been under a persistent cloud deck which obviously limited any sunshine, and therefore limited much of the ability to destabilize locally.

Once again, this does look like a big rain event with many forecast to see at least 1.0″
