MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) —
Mobile Police tell News 5 an officer has been shot and killed in the line of duty. The officer killed has been identified as Officer Sean Tuder. Police say Tuder was doing a follow-up investigation at Peach Place Inn when he was gunned down by a suspect. Police have arrested a suspect identified as Marco Perez, but have not released if Perez was the shooter. They have not released if anyone else was involved. Police are asking for prayers at this time.
A man by the same name, Marco Perez, was wanted by Mobile Police on multiple charges for allegedly faking his own kidnapping. In that case, Perez’s mother, 38-year-old Tiffany Perez, was arrested for helping her son fake his own kidnapping by filing a missing person’s report.
The last Mobile Police Officer who died in the line of duty was Officer Justin Billa. He was shot and killed February 20, 2018 responding to the murder of a Mobile woman.
Billa’s widow posted on Facebook asking for prayers for Tuder’s wife and family. She wrote, “I’ve been on the longest two hour flight back home. My heart feels shattered all over again. Please take a moment to pray over Sean’s wife Krissy and his entire family. I wish I had more words right now but I just do not.”
