Food, music, and fun to kick off our independence day weekend.

Wednesday,  the Downtown Rescue Mission invited friends and neighbors out to celebrate. Almost 80 volunteers, over 800 hotdogs and one group is bringing it all together.

The Downtown Rescue Mission helps people struggling with homelessness year round. Whitesburg Baptist Church is a partner is this year’s Independence Day Celebration.

“You and I could fall on hardships at any point and time,” said church member, Jonathan Adams. “And we need a place where you and I could go if we ever had a struggle, if we ever had an issue. And I think that Downtown Rescue Mission definitely provides that opportunity.”

But their goal today is to let struggling families know their community supports them.
