Junior quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, junior offensive tackle Alex Leatherwood, senior defensive end Raekwon Davis, redshirt senior linebacker Anfernee Jennings and junior safety Xavier McKinneywere named to the second team.

Clemson led all teams with three first-team selections, but Alabama claimed the most overall players between the first and second teams (seven to Clemson’s five). That competition was most notable between quarterbacks Tagovailoa and Trevor Lawrence, who split the first- and second-team honors.

The SEC had the most first-team All-American selections with eight, followed by the Big Ten (7).

Sporting News is one of five national outlets used to determine consensus All-American status, along with the American Football Coaches Association, Associated Press, Football Writers Association of American and Walter Camp Football Foundation.
