The 37th annual W.C. Handy Music Festival officially kicks off Saturday but many pre-festival events took place today.
Throughout the ten-day festival, live bands perform at area restaurants, parks and churches.
Friday, WZDX stopped by the Chicken-N-Beer event, hosted by the Soul Wingery & Records restaurant. The event featured all you can eat chicken wings, beer, and of course live music.
“Wade Brown from The Voice, if you remember Wade Brown, we have the Lamont Landers Band from Showtime at the Apollo, we have Thadd and Co. We have so many good bands, great musicians, great food,” said Thaddeus Rowell owner of Soul Wingery & Records.
The Handy Music Festival honors Florence native musician W.C. Handy. The festival runs through July 29th in the Shoals.
