The U.S. Space & Rocket Center is asking for the public’s help in restoring the Saturn V vertical replica.
Work is already underway on the $1.3 million project to have the Saturn V ready for the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission to the moon in July. Tuesday the Rocket Center launched its #ReviveTheSaturnV campaign, to raise money toward that goal.
“We’re asking for the community’s support in raising $250,000 to help us paint this big rocket. Of course this is a 363-foot tall rocket,” explained Patt Ammons with the U.S. Space & Rocket Center.
The Saturn V replica was built in 1999. The replica’s finish needs to be cleaned, primed and repainted. Find out how you can take part in this online campaign here.
