Brian Leblanc and Tafari Huggins rescued some who were trapped in their apartments from debris.
“We had to kick down a door just to get some people out we got on our friends out of her room. She was in her bathroom. One girl was in her closet. We were just trying to get everyone out as fast as possible because we didn’t know what was going to happen next,” Huggins says.
They went into multiple buildings along with police officers and volunteer firefighters.
“I was just trying to make sure everyone else I knew was ok,” says Leblanc.
“They were panicking and mostly terrified,” says Huggins.
“I just wanted to make sure we could find as many people as possible once we seen some of the damage, and we only could see it when the lightning struck. We saw a few people coming out of their rooms so that was our main priority to get everyone out before the next tornado came,” says Huggins.
Fortunately, no one was injured in the storm.
