Two bodies found in car in Lauderdale County

News

The Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office tells us two bodies were found in a red vehicle behind a house located at 4410 County Road 456 in the Killen area.

Authorities got a call from a relative of one of the people around ten this morning. When deputies arrived, they found two bodies in the front seats of a red vehicle.

Lt. Joe Hamilton with the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office says the relative had been looking for the two people since Friday. He says they did not have missing persons reports for the two people.

Around three this afternoon the bodies were being transferred from the car. They were sent to forensics to figure out the cause of death. The fire department was called in to help remove the bodies from the car.

“The state of the bodies would lead us to believe they had been there for several days,” said Hamilton.

John Cotton, a next door neighbor, says he has lived next door to the house where the people were found for over ten years. He says the people who lived there kept to themselves. When Cotton found out what happened, he said he was disgusted that he was living beside two corpses for nearly a week.

“It just creeps me out, you know. I didn’t know nothing about it and a neighbor called and said look outside, and I looked out and thought what’s going on, you know. And I find out something like this has happened, and it kind of makes me think twice about my safety at home,” said Cotton.

This is an ongoing investigation. We will update this story as we get more information.
