Touchdowns from Heaven charity honors legacy of West Limestone football player

An Athens charity is asking for football donations to give to children in need.

Touchdowns from Heaven honors the legacy of former West Limestone football player Cole Smith. The footballs are being donated in his name.

Smith was a high school senior when he was killed in a car accident last Thanksgiving. His family says he loved the lord and they wanted to keep his memory alive. Touchdowns from Heaven does that, by collecting footballs for underprivileged children. Each football donated has Coles favorite bible verses written on them.

“He was loved by everybody in the community and I think that we need to continue to spread that love that Cole had for everyone, so what better way to do it than to spread it to the children that are needy at Christmas,” said Amy Clem, Coles aunt.

If you would like to donate you can go to the touchdowns from heaven Facebook page. Last year about 350 footballs were collected. The footballs will be given to several organizations including Kids To Love, Stockings Of Hope and the Family Resource Center.
