According to a study, adverse training such as punishment and negative reinforcement can have long-term negative effects on our furry friend’s mental state. Dogs trained with harsher methods showed more stressed behaviors, and higher elevations in stress hormone levels after training, and were more ‘pessimistic’ in a cognitive bias task.
On the other hand, dogs trained positively looked for rewards faster.
